The Oval Portrait of a Dog Was Me at an Early Age

Olive in the wok Earthgirl just gave me. The cottage in Acadia had one, a good one, this model, and I cooked with it constantly. But yes, my odometer clicked another mile this past midnight.

THIS ROOM

John Ashbery

The room I entered was a dream of this room.
Surely all those feet on the sofa were mine.
The oval portrait
of a dog was me at an early age.
Something shimmers, something is hushed up.

We had macaroni for lunch every day
except Sunday, when a small quail was induced
to be served to us. Why do I tell you these things?
You are not even here.

  1. What Landru said. Ah, the Crackerbox Palace. *sigh*. I hope you have a Happy Day and can get out some. Also, good luck with the wok (sans Olive, I hope).

  2. Though I don't believe it, always -- as we used to say: Every Day Above Ground Is A Good Day. Make it count.
