Seventy-One Today

Bryan Ferry is seventy-one today. Seventy-freaking-one.

Have I ever mentioned I love Roxy Music? Innermost circle of rotationers in My Sillyass Deserted Island Five Game.

  2. IT'S ALIVE!

Well, I didn't watch tonight. True, I have no television and have not watched it in over eleven years, and commercial free too. And I'm still alive to tell the tale. This may be surprising. The Washington Post Hole has done a fact checking. So we can all be grateful to the Post Hole. I wasn't aware that there would be any facts to check but what the hell. Since I deep sixed my bloog I've had time to work on Telemann's Suite in A minor for flute, and a Bach Sonata for flute in C Major. I've had more time to do something actually worthwhile and rewarding not to mention fun. I think it's called "life". The Washington Post Hole can dig all the post holes its little heart desires, I care not. All the experts say change is in the air yet all I can detect is a rather bad smell.

  3. well i watched "it" - kind of meh - neither informative nor entertaining - life is like a beanstalk, isn't it?

my cousin's son is getting married in the midwest saturday - to a young woman of the same religious and ethnic background, roughly speaking - as a boy, the groom came to my wedding, and now i am returning the favor - my brother and i are flying there - my mother's sister will be there, the last of her nuclear family - she and her husband are the only people remaining on my mother's side of the family who have known me all my life - the groom, who is their grandson, will have some nice towels and a shower curtain chosen by me from the bridal registry - and by entering the discount code FALLHOME on the checkout page i got ten percent off on the price

this morning i wondered if richie davidson had written or recommended a book on self-compassion, and discovered his blurb about tim desmond's book -

“This book is an extraordinarily practical and useful guide to the importance of self-compassion in psychotherapy. It is also a ‘how-to’ manual of simple practices that can be used to kindle the development of self-compassion. . . . [Desmond’s] wonderful insights, vignettes, and wise teachings . . . will be of great benefit to any clinician who wishes to incorporate compassion practices in his or her work."

From the Foreword to Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy - Richard J. Davidson, PhD, Founder of the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds, University of Wisconsin-Madison
