And Yet We All Fix Our Binoculars on the Horizon's Hazy Fear-Heaps and Cruise Toward Them, Fat Sails Forward

  • William Gass - The Tunnel, page 287, on the creation of the Party of Disappointed People. It is a very opportune time to read The Tunnel, yo.
  • UPDATE! Jim wants you to know now is a very opportune time to read Elias Canetti's Auto-de-Fe.
  • The confused sardine wriggles sideways towards happiness.
  • We're saying the same thing.
  • Look, of course Trump is a fuckawful soul of turd and fear of his achieving full POTUS is legitimate. I'm saying examine the causes of his rise and the advent of the new Party of Disappointed People (beyond calling them crackers).
  • Suggesting that gets me screamed at.
  • Reminder: the PDP's 2020 Trump is gonna be a much better, less demonstrably turdly Trump. The PDP isn't going away.
  • Of course, this song:

PEDESTRIAN

Thomas Lux

Tottering and elastic, middle name of Groan,
ramfeezled after a hard night
at the corpse-polishing plant, slope-
shouldered, a half loaf
of bread, even his hair tired, famished,
fingering the diminished beans
in his pocket—you meet him.
On a thousand street corners you meet him,
emerging from the subway, emerging
from your own chest—this sight’s shrill,
metallic vapors pass into you.
His fear is of being broken,
of becoming too dexterous in stripping
the last few shoelaces of meat
from a chicken’s carcass, of being moved by nothing
short of the Fall of Rome, of being stooped
in the cranium over some loss he’s forgotten
the anniversary of.... You meet him,
know his defeat, though proper
and inevitable, is not yours, although yours also
is proper and inevitable: so many defeats
queer and insignificant (as illustration:
the first time you lay awake all night
waiting for dawn—and were disappointed), so many
no-hope exhaustions hidden,
their gaze dully glazed inward.—And yet we all
fix our binoculars on the horizon’s hazy fear-heaps
and cruise toward them, fat sails
forward.... You meet him on the corners,
in bus stations, on the blind avenues
leading neither in
nor out of hell, you meet him
and with him you walk.

  3. with regard to the PDP - i watched some of debate 2 - and i was most inspired and energized at herr drumpf's promise to have a special prosecutor throw hillary in jail - *after a fair trial, of course, which was implied even if not explicitly stated* - i am sorely tempted to vote for him - but bernie has asked me to vote for her, and i guess i'm going to

and with regard to senator sanders, it is asserted that he is the true winner of debate 2 - and this assertion is made in an outlet owned by ivanka trump's husband
