At least 56 more songs (and not another word) below the fold: I'm told all these your tubes on front page are crashing browsers. There were 56 when I imposed the fold, I'll be adding songs, your requests if you have any.

    1. True that. I had that glink! in a dream the night before that post, why I went for that poem. Didn't think it'd be Bowie, though.

It's also my fault because I didn't like the new music.

    2. Oh, I very carefully did not note the incontrovertible fact that it's your fault.

I knew before I got up this morning that someone important to me was dead, but Bowie was the farthest thing from my radar.

  4. Walking into a party in 1972 or 73, "Suffragette City" was playing. Even though it took a while to like Bowie's music (and through his career, I didn't like everything he ever released), just hearing that one track was enough to convince me the man was an original and that I might want to pay attention to what he was doing.

  5. Our mutual friend Crispy annoyed me this morning. I shamefully shed a few tears at the news which I received via text from the girlfriend around five am. You got all the songs already so no suggestions are in order. Will remember listening to Blackstar while driving around LA a bit stoned and thinking this is the longest song I've ever heard. It gets better with each hearing, but is better now that I know he was dying when he did it. I thought to myself he was my favorite baby boomer. Sixty nine is plenty. Almost exactly twenty years older than me and two decades doesn't seem like such a long time anymore. Cancer is underrated. It's a good way to go if you get to have some time to do just a little more art before you're gone.
