Rush Limbaugh's love for Krauthammer has lately been slightly diminished. Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer was one of several prominent conservatives on FOX News Wednesday to praise President Obama's performance at the memorial service for victims of the Arizona shootings, deeming Obama's speech "quite remarkable, extremely effective...extremely successful."
The next day, Rush Limbaugh slammed Krauthammer and his fellow panelists for their positive reactions to the speech. "They were slobbering over it for the predictable reasons," said Limbaugh. "It was smart, it was articulate, it was oratorical. It was all the things the educated ruling class wants their members to be and sound like."
Appearing on FOX again last night, Krauthammer addressed Limbaugh's criticism. "Let me just say," the columnist said, "that I find it interesting only the ruling class wants a president who is smart, articulate, and oratorical in delivering a funeral oration. It's an odd and rather condescending view of what the rest of America is looking for in their president."That man of the people, Rush Limbaugh, said the same thing about the ruling class all we recovering donkeys and pretend revolutionaries say about the ruling class.
The weirdest part of the funeral was the burial ceremony at a start-up cemetery. Maybe three acres, along a highway, with a erector-set steel mausoleum/back-hoe garage, crappy sapplings and stunted hedges, a single driveway to a single circle, the cemetery felt like a movie set down to the ten of us freezing under a tarp-flapping winter wind while the Kenyan starter priest (given emergency holiday parish duty) tried to follow texted directions on what to read in the Catholic funeral book.
