If You Love Me, Worship the Objects I Have Caused to Represent Me in My Absence

Tell me, did you ever think Obama would deliberately schedule the official announcement of his reelection campaign on the very same day his administration publicly concedes there will always be Guantanamo?

  • I bought this Elkin biography and couldn't believe how badly written it is.
  • Sophie's Choice. It has to be at least 25 years since I read it. I remember Stingo.
  • I'm not sure why Kramerbooks is being reviewed on a poetry blog because Kramerbooks' poetry stock sucks.
  • New Kate Bush? Yes but no. There is this sentence: Kate is currently working on new material although no release date has been set for this
  • Here's the reworked Deeper Understanding. Um. Suck.
  • Obscure Sound's Best of March w/sound. I confess I don't get the fuss over of Montreal, which is OK. It feels like I should.
  • I love Velocity Girl. Listen to this. Holyfuck.

Quick, before you die,
describe

the exact shade
of this hotel carpet.

What is the meaning
of the irregular, yellow

spheres, some
hollow,

gathered in patches
on this bedspread?

If you love me,
worship

the objects
I have caused

to represent me
in my absence.

  1. And to announce all that on the anniversary of better man's murder.

Great post title, by the by.

  2. Ah, the bad old days of 57numbers@compuserve.net and landfill after landfill overflowing with AOL floppies and CDs, eventually topped by the non-soylent.

  3. Gotta say, I was expecting some shit symbolism from Obama, but that is many many steps further than I thought he would go.

Oh jeez, that Kate Bush. I was actually looking forward to the not-new new album, but now....

  4. Yay Velocity Girl. There is a nice video of them performing "Why Should I Be Nice To You" at Fort Reno on Youtube...

  5. Re: The Redistribution Fairy: It seems to me the rich and their employees are feeling the results of their decades long propaganda project, not to mention the extraction of wealth from everyone else.

Possibly they will overreach to the extent that reversal is possible. But this, too, will be very ugly.

    Hurray for interesting times!

  6. I'm torn on the Kate Bush. I understand her wanting to rework the song The Sensual World now that she has permission to use the Molly Bloom soliloquy as she originally intended.

On the other hand, this reminds me of that crap Gabriel album of covers from a couple of years ago. This is another example of me as moral scold, but new material or nothing.

  8. Sure.

I saw Velocity Girl a couple of times at Ft Reno, but I don't remember this rendition of that song, and I'm pretty good at remembering these things.

I haven't seen music at Ft Reno in at least five years. Time to change that this summer.

  9. Jack, I hadn't known that MLK connection until your comment. Still thinking it through, but wanted to say Yes.

As for post-titles, I didn't write this one either.
