at the nytimes they have a video of nimoy explaining that he had seen the gesture in a ceremony in the synagogue - which he had peeked at although he had been told not to look
3)he died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease - without it he might have made it to 93, not just 83 - he had been a smoker for a couple of decades, and although he gave it up in midlife the harmful effects stayed with him
