Spit on a Flower Cruelly and Scream in the Forest of Mildness

  • Bigger, better, at otherblog.
  • Maggie's weekly links.
  • McCain. Of the Villager hosannahs for Saint John I will only say that nothing can match their genuine fake grief to demonstrate their devotion to proper decorum being observed as they support the Empire's worse crimes.
  • So that's that for Ocasio-Cortez, America's progressive.
  • Adding: nothing proves I. Hate. Motherfucking. Democrats. more than their love of McCain.
  • The nastiest feud in science.
  • Lindsay Kemp (?) has moved.
  • Deborah Eisenberg's short stories have been urged on me, I don't play well with short stories though I will try - I do have access to a university library's stacks after all - but anyone urge me yes, anyone urge me no?
  • { feuilleton }'s weekly links.
  • Bought Scrivener again, my fun dying slowly in Word fucked by my idiot wish to cloud the motherfucker, three days disappeared because I did something dumbfuck on Word on phone in cloud.
  • I want all my failed tablets to die natural deaths.
  • I am sure there is an Scrivener app and cloud I could fuck up.
  • Let me learn Scrivener only on laptop then learn how to fuck it up in cloud.
  • I’ve never archived like I meant it before I expect I won’t mean in Scrivener too.

WHERE I LIVE

Tom Clark

The stars flow beneath the water
The clouds freeze or collapse
In laughter, lure like a pledge
Like hockey, trust, language
Approach and spit on a flower
Cruelly and scream in the forest
Of mildness, portrayed by art
As endless steps into the sky
But while all this is going on
An aimed surmise, noiseless
As the heaven that gathers it
Banishes beauty-hemmed man
To bed, as sleep extinguishes
The planet in whirring dreams
Where slowness flows to be
Breathless, like a bicyclist.

  1. Really enjoyed the article on Keller. I never liked the asteroid theory, neither did a lot of paleontologists. If you're interested in modern dance Martha Graham was an amazing pioneer:

Just for the record I never liked Ocasio-"Israel Has a Right to Exist"-Cortez. Israel is an apartheid racist state of insane assholes and anyone who defends it is either an idiot or a liar. This article sums up hyphenated woman nicely:

I still find it hard to believe that anyone thinks the Democratic Party can transform itself at this late date or any other date for that matter.

    1. Thanks for the M Graham, Rob. My intro to modern dance was via an ex g-friend, a modern dancer. A reconnaissance mission I was sent on to scout her as a singer in our band was where I was first exposed to a sublime bit of choreography I was unaware existed. There is a woman called Meg Stuart still active these days who I'd recommend seeing live, though my fave is her solo work. I saw her at a free Monday night performance in NYC at a church where it happens weekly (Baryshnikov was on line right behind us). Reminiscent of the Lamentation you linked to, she performed her whole piece on one spot. It was amazing. Wim Wenders did a doc on Pina Bausch several years back, much of which features some stellar movement.

    2. I'm glad you enjoyed it, Davidly. I was introduced to modern dance through and old friend I used to get together to play music with. His girl friend was taking modern dance classes at Stanford University. Later my friend got into dance himself and ended up teaching it at Stanford. It's an amazing art form and Martha Graham was a great artist to say the least. Through my friends I was able to see a lot of performances which was wonderful. The arts are one of the things that make life worthwhile, humanity at its best, or at least that's how I see it.

  2. I demand to know why no-one has informed you that b-point link nr one is the same as that in b-point nr two. Does this not fall under the purview of M. Charlie?

  3. Okay, lots here. Lindsay Kemp is a new one for me. Cheers, davidly. Also, saw Appalachian Spring conducted by Copland and choreographed by Graham (maybe the last performance of both?) when I lived in NYC. Unforgettable.

  4. O/T, @ Herr von D.: Every cookie's fortune still makes sense when you add 'online' to it.

    "That wasn't chicken. Online."

  5. That's a great picture by the way. Is that Olive? A friend had a cat named Peanut which I thought was good name for a kitty. Some people say cats don't return your love. But if you watch this it shows they do:

That dog could have killed Tara but that didn't stop Tara. Interestingly cats share 95.6 of their DNA with that of the tiger.

Tara was a real tiger that day! And no I don't hate dogs, I've known plenty of great dogs.

    1. Yes, Olive, amazingly photogenic cat, she's mountain laurel blossom white and pink (with green olive eyes).

    2. Yes she's photogenic but I like the whole composition of your photo. The angle you took it from and with the strong black and white stripes beneath Olive just makes for a great photo.

It's Charlie Parker's birthday today. Happy birthday, Bird! You enriched my life forever. A true genius in every sense of the word.
