I Sense a Heaviness in Your Light Play, a Wish to Stand Out, Admired, From the Throng

help-wanted ad for the Department of Homeland Security, fascist much? And my apologies, I, who underestimate Dump's survival instincts less than most, underestimated him this time, shitlords told him to focus on their shitlord business first, his gauche business second, threatened him (and will continue to threaten him, as will ossadmay) with Epstein (remember that? it was big news a week ago, hot and heavy), and Dump complied, skated, his usefulness to shitlords understandably keeping Dumpty on the wall (rimshot). As I type this sentence Sunday evening August 10th rumor is rampant he will militarize DC tomorrow. As I type this sentence Monday evening August 11th, yup. The shitlord business linked above requires, for now, a broken populace, starting the breakdown in the bluest (and black) city and capital of Magamerica is the sound business decision to start. Chicago's next. Let me say this about that:

This does not and never did exist in real life. The second after I photographed it it died a second ahead of second after second dying to dull muted flat half-colors by Monday late afternoon. I work water on paper, color dying the millisecond applied. This is natural. The bricks have been moved to another project

Besides, I cheat. The photo I took rotated 180 degrees from how I made it (like always, laugh, all these I make, my favorite uncanny me) and cropped to a rough square, and I juggled and enhanced exposure, contrast, and saturation with my chromebook's photothingee so what you are looking at is not what I made except it is

This is true of everything I post at the blog with the title that this blog just had for the last five days in its latest stupidass gag. This the periodical full disclosure, I think it must have been a year at least since the last, probably yesterday. The whatever they are called displayed here exist but not as they appear here. I have not been reading Murnane though I still write like him (I hear it, at least) at times from when I was devout. A few have even dried better than the altered ones displayed here. I give them to my wife and daughter who both, professionals, make art teacher noises of praise. In one of the oldest stupidass gags, almost as old as the stupidass gag where I proudly honor stupidass gags by relentless repeating, fine metaphors abound. Vital reminder:

The lead story as I type this this morning at 830am EDT in the New York Times is headlined FOR TRUMP, CITIES LIKE WASHINGTON ARE REAL ESTATE IN NEED OF FIXING UP because, sure, that's Trump's primary motive for militarizing DC, when my house needed a new roof five years ago I called in the Marines. Not that any major Democrat will bark at the clusterfuck but if one did we'd never know it. There's a link in the grid to an article that applies Kübler-Ross' Five Stages of Grief to you and me and the clusterfuck, that's how irreversible, just like death, your inevitable clusterfuckization and enshittification and immiseration are, don't take it personally, it's just a real estate transaction. One of my oldest gags here: shitlords' actuaries and accountants have run the numbers, shitlords are on the clock in the fucking of you up and they know it and billeting soldiers in your head a key early component. No one is going to fight for us, we need to fight like Bobby. E-A-B, E-A-B-A. We don't have a wah-wah pedal

[I do not always understand what you say]

James Schuyler

I do not always understand what you say.
Once, when you said, across, you meant along.
What is, is by its nature, on display.

Words' meanings count, aside from what they weigh:
poetry, like music, is not just song.
I do not always understand what you say.

You would hate, when with me, to meet by day
What at night you met and did not think wrong.
What is, is by its nature, on display.

I sense a heaviness in your light play,
a wish to stand out, admired, from the throng.
I do not always understand what you say.

I am as shy as you. Try as we may,
only by practice will our talks prolong.
What is, is by its nature, on display.

We talk together in a common way.
Art, like death, is brief: life and friendship long.
I do not always understand what you say.
What is, is by its nature, on display.

And the Masked Man with His Chopper: We Know Him

This dumb review of Krasznahorkai's *Herscht 07769* has all the litfolk on xhitter who take photos of seven 1000 page novels stacked atop one another and xhit it out with the caption "Last week's reading" in a tizzy meaning some of it must yoink true, laugh
I am on page 223 of *Herscht 07769* but on hiatus since last Thursday
I loved the *Melancholy of Resistance* - *Satantango* - especially *War and War* and *Baron Wenckheim’s Homecoming* tetrology and still VOUCH for them
At this moment in time I type this sentence the work and time and effort spent on reading *Herscht 07759* wasted work and time and effort
Granted my eyes are old and diseased, my memory degrading (it's frightening), I can nap for the first time in my life without waking up yellow so I can't read in bed like I did my whole life, I'm not reading any novel, any poetry, and expect to be consumed and rewarded for it now like once upon
Other old people tell me this is normal and not a personal failing, they aren't right but they're not wrong
I haven't dropped the *I am telling you three time we are being reprogrammed* gag in awhile, a choice, not my senility
Re: "I am telling you three times" - allusion to Vollmann's *Dying Grass* (how did Vollmann not make that guy's list of brodernists), my favorite novel, I've read it three times, I feel safe in betting pints there won't be a fourth
People - smart people - underestimate the number of and strength of the mind-bending side-effects of the constant whipsawing psyops shitlords feed us
I can't read if I'm compulsively building these grids because I start to read a novel and two pages in I've surrendered to the latest horrifying omens of clusterfuck contemplation which I don't notice with the novel until six pages later I don't remember reading
I never acquired the academic scaffolding I could have to be a professional OR amateur brodernist when I decided decades ago I didn't *want* academic scaffolding, I had the free ride to try but chose instead to spend time with my wife and child, but I hereby resign whatever pretentions and aspirations I had to become a brodernist (or pretend to be one on the internet), my head is too busy, too noisy, too fading trying to keep up with the clusterfuck for the busy noisy cinderblock novels I loved for fifty years, I need something as universally kaboom as a gloriously brodernist encyclopedic omfg novel and just as clusterfuckful but without the omfg, I have enough in real life
I'm back on the murnane, and I've ishiguro in the medicine cabinet too. I'll be OK
Tomorrow a BLCKDGRD Holy Day, hint

NO SPEECH FROM THE SCAFFOLD

Thom Gunn

There will be no speech from
the scaffold, the scene must
be its own commentary.

The glossy chipped
surface of the block is like
something for kitchen use.

And the masked man with his
chopper: we know him: he
works in a warehouse nearby.

Last, the prisoner, he
is pale, he walks through
the dewy grass, nodding

a goodbye to acquaintances.
There will be no speech. And we
have forgotten his offense.

What he did is, now,
immaterial. It is the
execution that matters, or,

rather, it is his conduct
as he rests there, while
he is still a human.

My Fish Comes Unboned, I Weep Pretending Allergies

Remembered this year, the best New Year's song is a George song

Don't always, and forgetting more frequent and frightening of late which combined with lackofuck as only antidote for toomuchfuck plus aching knees and ankles cause fuck it what's another forty miles hiking or discing this week, I pronounce myself old now that I'm 65 and not retiring. L and I tell each other of new weird ouchies and spookies and find relief hearing it's not just the me and this sucks but is normal, mortal. Here's yesterday, Ten Mile Creek Trail, best trail in Moco (especially in the winter, exceptional light the two weeks before and after Winter solstice)

I am out of gouache and clear elmer's glue and every color of acrylic ink and watercolor blocks, living with a limited and diminishing palette and counting canvases like bullet rounds was a blast! felt like practice for our imminent immiseration and ensuing enshittification, I do this with tablets and pencils and once upon time pens too, yesterday today was tomorrow and tomorrow today will be yesterday

I've ordered more, clear elmer's glue, primary and complementary colors gouache and acrylic ink plus lots of white gouache and even more white acrylic ink, cold press and hot press watercolor blocks, 6x6, 8x8, and 12x12. Whatever I call what I make I will continue to make and they will appear there but maybe not here as much if at all because they're two dimensional here and there not three dimensional like in real life. I'm in the middle of three novels, Dixon's *Garbage,* Faulkner's *Absalom,* and Brodkey's *X-Man,* and have been for months and retain virtually nothing of whichever one I read last and can't imagine finishing any of them and am starting Alexis Wright's *Praiseworthy* later today and assume I won't remember what I just read of it when I put it down and can't imagine finishing it either. Hiking with L in an hour, we've agreed to try and not discuss how our life savings will be stolen by Shitlord (blooger auto-caps Shitlord) insurance and private equity wealth extractors. Happy New Year, same as the old year, I've no innovations on how to attack the new year except hiking, discing, painting, reading, reading not reading, gridding the clusterfuck. I did read end-to-end twice Anne Carson's 2024 *Wrong Norma* though the poem below, in a 2024 published book, written in 2017. This song below and the song below the grid both off two of my favorite 2024 albums

"Though he sometimes embraced ‘populist’ rhetoric on the campaign trail, especially against the private equity chief Romney in 2012, Obama’s most lasting achievement in the White House was to confirm the Democrats’ new identity as the party of metropolitan capital: a political formation defined by close kinship with Wall Street and Silicon Valley, technocratic rule in government and elite pluralism in culture."
Deadly ApathyTheory of the Non-Voter
"As 2024 ends, the prevailing attitude toward the manic stylings and overheated threats of the once and future President, even among his diehard critics, seems to be more one of purposeful indifference than of explicit resistance; call it surrender or simply resignation to the political reality that Trump is twenty-five days away from returning to the Oval Office

SATURDAY NIGHT AS AN ADULT

Anne Carson

We really want them to like us. We want it to go well. We overdress. They are narrow people, art people, offhand, linens. It is early summer, first hot weekend. We meet on the street, jumble about with kisses and are we late? They had been late, we’d half-decided to leave, now oh well. That place across the street, ever tried it? Think we went there once, looks closed, says open, well. People coming out. O.K. Inside is dark, cool, oaken. Turns out they know the owner. He beams, ushers, we sit. And realize at once two things, first, the noise is unbearable, two, neither of us knows the other well enough to say bag it. Our hearts crumble. We order food by pointing and break into two yell factions, one each side of the table. He and she both look exhausted, from (I suppose) doing art all day and then the new baby. We eat intently, as if eating were conversation. We keep passing the bread. My fish comes unboned, I weep pretending allergies. Finally someone pays the bill and we escape to the street. For some reason I was expecting snow outside. There is none. We decide not to go for ice cream and part, a little more broken. Saturday night as an adult, so this is it. We thought we’d be Nick and Nora, not their blurred friends in greatcoats. We cover our ears inside our souls. But you can’t stop it that way.

And. By God. Stop the Bells Ringing Stop Them

L's recently deceased life long friend S** was a personal friend of my congressman, JR, MD-8, and vouched passionately for his decency and good heart when I (I paraphrase) said JR's a progressive poseur, he's a corporate Democrat (S was a corporate Democrat) (S also despised, with the heat of a million suns, our County Executive ME, who actually is somewhat progressive compared to most motherfucking corporate Democrats), but S was a corporate Democrat (she vouched for Neera too, CLICK!). JR still might be one of the corporate Democrats first to speak against the Gazan holocaust but that will require significantly more and worse war crimes than bombing a refugee camp, and even then, pfft, no way; he ain't giving up his wrung on the ladder (and see the first IHMD link in grid below)

In furious futility yesterday (before the idea of the above paragraph had appeared to me) I sent him an email off his contact page on his website and then encouraged friends via twooter who also live in Maryland 8 to email, that's how sideways I am, knowingly adding to more datamined chits into fnbsia's cloud collecting my spurts from my three main ips (and then warned people, on potus' twitter page, that potus's twitter page is a nfsbai honeypot). What the fuck am I doing, I don't ask because of the honeypotting, I self-incriminate ALL THE FUCKING TIME, the fuck am I doing emailing a motherfucking professional Democrat, Republicans are assholes, motherfucking Democrats the enemy

Is there some number of dead, some video of an Israeli tank blowing up the economy car of a family trying to escape like the IDF told them to or video of parents pulling their dead toddlers out of bomb rubble or... imagine which atrocity that will make JR break from otuspay who though clearly in otageday hangs onto the worse of the shitty human he's always been, JR didn't work to get the job of Chief Taunter of Crackers to give up his wrung on the Corporate Democrat Ladder and his promising future up-wrung by criticizing an American sponsored genocide

*BFF stood w me at my and L's wedding, S (as well as K) with L. Hamster and SeatSix and David Bogo (you still visit here?) were there too
*We go to S's memorial service this coming Saturday which will be filled with motherfucking upper management corporate Democrats and, for L's sake, I won't say a word, the fuck is wrong with me?
- Woke up with this in my head:
