If the electric grid collapses I don't know how to fix it. I'd curse my disconnectivity. If I knew how to live unplugged - and I don't know how to live unplugged, though I could learn if I had to - I don't want to live unplugged, and if you're reading this, neither do you. I talk about my financial obligation for my daughter ending in four years as if I'd be able to un-Corporate this or that, but what, we're gonna buy acres in rural western Pennsylvania where I'll install a disc golf course and Earthgirl will raise alpacas and we'll eat local organic vegan and only spend two hours online a day instead of six?
My best contribution to make the world .06% less-shitty would be to be quieter, and selfishly that less-shittiness would only benefit me and mine. Each of our best contributions would be to be what me and mine and you and yours think it's impossible for each of us to be. So at least for the rest of the weekend, I'll try.
- Doubt I make it.
- Worst mistake in human history. (h/t)
- Totality and exhaustion. It's weird, I have no urge to go back and reread DeLillo at this point, and my memory of reading him was that I was obligated to read him, not that I enjoyed reading him (except for White Noise the first time).
- Libertopian ideal.
- The libertarian menace.
- Celebrate perpetual war, part four.
- This surprises you exactly how?
- This surprises you exactly how?
- Kensington is the second best suburb in America?
- Eines Echtheitskusses Unangekrankelheitsdruck.
- Stephin Merritt song?
- Obscure Sound's Best of August (w/songs).
- Soon it will be fire.
- Night of the assassins.
- The four Radigue youtubes are only one third of the trilogy. Holyfuck.
All night the sound had
come back again,
and again falls
this quiet, persistent rain.
What am I to myself
that must be remembered,
so often? Is it
that never the ease,
even the hardness,
of rain falling
will have for me
something other than this,
something not so insistent—
am I to be locked in this
Love, if you love me,
lie next to me.
Be for me, like rain,
the getting out
of the tiredness, the fatuousness, the semi-
lust of intentional indifference.
with a decent happiness.
Heh. I'm betting no, but only because there's a limited amount of background distraction this weekend.ReplyDelete
And I don't agree with your analysis, but that has nothing to do with the way I'm betting.
Hah! Rodney Wallace scores Ticos' game-winner against USMNT!ReplyDelete
We didn't make it--collapsed at about 10:55.
Seems to me Kensington is missing out on lakes, mountains, and coastlines.ReplyDelete
Wisdoc might want to partner in that Alpaca thing. We went to an alpaca show here last fall. It was lurve.ReplyDelete
Yeah, Landru, how'd the US let a Md grad play for Costa Rica? And then he nails that lay out header? USMNT's got a ways to go. Maybe they should put Klingsman up front.
As I've said before, Kyema is very frequently my favorite of favorites. I gotta track down the rest of the trilogy.ReplyDelete
Well, Farrokh Bulsara would have been sixty-five this coming Monday, so I'm guessing there will be a post then.ReplyDelete
As for USMNT, it was so far off my radar I didn't even know they were playing, or if I did it made no impression. And Rodney Wallace is Costa Rican? Who knew?
As for Kensington, it frequently gets written up as a special burg, and it's fine, it's nice, but special?
As for Radigue, I knew of her before I switched from KEXP to WFMU for regular listening, but with Fabio and Bryce and Kurt and Scott playing her music often, wowee. I'm hooked. Also getting hooked on Jean-Claude Éloy.
