Sixty-Eight Today

No, I didn't forget. Been on the soundtrack since forever, including some of the best and many of the worse nights of my life. It's not love, it's I'd trust him to futilely search for dry firewood with me on the fifth day of rain on a shitty backpacking trip when everyone else is in the tent bitching.

  2. my favorite play on the title of a Nei tune. Scott Miller (r.i.p).

speaking of age, not to mention resting in peace, It was mentioned to me that the mother of one of the property managers I worked for in college just passed away. He was pretty advanced in age back then, much surprised to hear his mom was still around. She was 103. Remarkable.

  3. the zen teacher of leonard cohen and shinzen young is still alive at age 106

the wikipedia article about him has the following quote from a February 2013 article in the Albuquerque Journal:

In early January, the senior teachers of Sasaki's community admitted in an on-line statement that the community "has struggled with our teacher Joshu Sasaki Roshi's sexual misconduct for a significant portion of his career in the United States."

in our own european-american tradition, we must struggle with the knowledge that the author of the line "all men are created equal, and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights" was a lifelong slaveholder

as they say, the beer for grownups is budweiser (sadder ....)

someone who advises you to do as they say, not what they do, may be a realist instead of, or in addition to, a hypocrite

Use every man after his desert, and who should 'scape whipping?
