These Are the Words That the Voice Was Repeating

This year's edition of the traditional post. Here, what I write (odometer updated) every year:

Fifty-six today, this guy (link updated at his joint for this year's birthday, so click, yo). When we met in 5th grade forty-seven years ago neither of us predicted the weirdest year of our lives would be 2016.

Always, this: twenty-three years ago Landru was the first human not Earthgirl or me or a doctor/nurse to hold Planet.

  1. Thanks. It's 56, actually, but that doesn't matter. And yeah, years don't come any weirder.

  2. Landru, Though you are not known in the for-real, Happy to you on Your Day. Step up -- and claim your Tub Of Slaw.

I've had weirder years, but that's a long time ago. However, these Days are weird in a different and deeper way, and I keep expecting it to turn into 'Festival' just about any minute now.

  3. The fifty-six, the fifth grade, the first holding of Planet. Not just because it's not the first time I read those words, they create something so incredibly distinct, probably to be read in the deepest history of everything. Happiest of birthdays I wish you, Landru.
