The Collateral One Voice

Earthgirl and I saw Kedi, the documentary about street cats in Istanbul. I want to go to Istanbul, I want to learn Turkish, that was before this but amplified now. I'll do neither. The cat lovers - bless them for their cat love and human generosity, I felt stupidly human and whole, felt some small hope. I just watched a youtube of Steve King embrace his racism in full flower, he might be a cat lover, I hope not - what, I hope he's cruel to cats? - the fuck....

  • Melville and Swans. Always the Melville and Swans.
  • A different kind of Democratic suckage. It's proof I'm still the stains of motherfucking Democratic tribalism, if true it reifies the motherfucking balance of power in the quadrant.
  • There will be no Liberal counter-revolution:
Liberals are ideologically committed to procedural democratic pluralism in a way that the American right is not. Their priority is not the enactment of policy; their priority is adherence to a set of norms and processes and practices which they define as "good governance", and if this so-happens to achieve certain political outcomes, that's an added benefit. Compare this vision of politics with that of the so-called alt-right - or as Stop The Spirit of Zossen called them in 2009, the Movement:
[T]he Movement within the conservative base always plays a different game for a different prize. The Movement may speak in normal political talking points from ‘Republican’ institutions. Yet it isn’t not committed to Dahl-esque pluralistic politics. It has never sought or tolerated compromise or ‘moderation’. That’s because for the Movement, politics is existential warfare. Compromise is defeat.
The hard right has only become more explicit about this since then. But consider how Obama discussed American politics in his farewell speech:
Understand, democracy does not require uniformity. Our founders argued. They quarreled. They compromised. They expected us to do the same.
That is the spirit of modern liberalism. And it's exactly what we can expect from our liberal Democrats even if they take back power, because this is what they believe in.

ARGUMENT OVER, AMOUNTING

Clark Coolidge

In edges, in barriers the tonal light of t
the one thing removed overemphasizes tonally
and you could hurry it, and it vanish and plan

You go out on an avenue, but may be taken in despite
your chordal list of hates, overcomings banished ready
receiving you from a darkened cone, the one a beat
behind the one you there are

Then the I not part of the you equation, but the
spider trying to build where it is written
vibrates tentative
I don’t want to talk to you about it anymore
crystal region in its light, there are failures and
there are failures

But it’s imperative, abrupt catch, that you sink the
final catch, trounced morning
this is awful but none other available, words reach
and visually fail to tie audibly retire
the pieces of the opening collision, and the reaches of
turning aside remind

I am hopefully
this is position
of the world overcome by
