It Seems to Us You Convert Your Farts into Speeches

The annual Elkin birthday post, no this year (Elkin has a permanent chair in My Sillyass Deserted Island Five Game, Novelist Division, Pynchon has a permanent chair, Ishiguro may have had and may still have for all I know a permanent chair, he might be one of the rotating novelists for the two or three rotating seats, last time I thought about this long before my latest Murnane binge (and recent brutal withdrawal) and before Proust became my OCD med, I haven't thought about this division - or poets division or musicians division - would have to do research to remind myself of this shitty blog's ten theme songs and no longer can tell you what color ink is in what color pen, shit, I spent yesterday thinking it Wednesday, I woke up this Wednesday morning thinking it Tuesday), I don't have a new policy of review of this blog's Holy Days except to mention I'd have guessed the plague would spur me to happy bump not wrestle with and maybe refuse to on a game day decision

TO A POLITICIAN

Bernadette Mayer

Your penis is homeless
You are covered with as many warts as the lies you’ve told
You pat maggots on their backs
Your syphilitic mouth sucks the slugs from the irradiated cocks of your cohorts
This gives a bad name to syphilis, if I mention it in relation to you
Your asshole farts from overeating of civilian causalities
The toxic fingernails of your leprous hands
Flip through the reports of your medievally botulistic bubonic policies
Your brain is full of lice, tickling it with greed for pesticide-ish powder
Cockroaches fill your pancreas with their eggs
But this is an insult to cockroaches
Your lungs fill with the blood of the dead
Poisonous snakes of freedom crawl into your every orifice, but to no avail
Spiders come out of your nose
Your heart is being pinched by Lyme-diseased tics, stung by killer bees, bitten by the rattlesnakes of prevarication
First thing every morning your gangrenous arms embrace the rabid turds of your generals
Your penis is the size of a junkie’s needle
Your nostrils resemble the assholes of cops
It seems to us you convert your farts into speeches
Your disease-ridden mouth is full of the incurable sores of your lies
Your petrified eyes eat the bulimic vomit of your violent words
All words, all humans, insulted, disgusted, by your depraved existence.

  1. American crackerism and christer cracker whisperers links to a tweet by jared wade sexton which links to 'the muckrake' which has a podcast - jws has a book coming out in september American Rule: How A Nation Conquered The World But Failed Its People

a previous book of his -- The People Are Going to Rise Like the Waters Upon Your Shore -- is described as follows

"An impressionistic and often disturbing account of the 2016 presidential race . . . This book reveals the incremental nature of public displays of hatred, growing from harsh chants and bumper stickers to, say, an open and unmasked gathering of white supremacists in Charlottesville . . . [His] dispatches are bracing." -- The Washington Post Named a Best Book of 2017 by The Coil When he agreed to cover the 2016 election season, journalist Jared Yates Sexton didn't know he was stepping into what would become--for both political parties--the most rageful and divisive political circus in U.S. history. His initial dispatches showed Democrats at war with their establishment, coming apart at the seams over the long-gestating ascendancy of Hillary Clinton and the upstart momentum of Bernie Sanders, whose grassroots campaign provoked uprisings of people desperate for change. Then, on June 14, Sexton attended a Donald Trump rally in Greensboro, North Carolina. One of the first journalists to witness these rallies and give mainstream readers an idea of the raw anger that occurred there, Sexton found himself in the center of a maelstrom. Following a series of tweets that saw his observations viewed well over 1 million times, his reporting was soon featured in The Washington Post , NPR, Bloomberg , and Mother Jones , and he would go on to write two pieces for The New York Times . Sexton gained more than 18,000 followers on Twitter in a matter of days, and received online harassments, campaigns to get him fired from his university professorship, and death threats that changed his life forever. The People Are Going to Rise Like the Waters Upon Your Shore is a firsthand account of the events that shaped the 2016 presidential election and the cultural forces that divided both parties and powered Donald Trump into the White House. Featuring in-the-field reports as well as deep analysis, Sexton's book is not just the story of the most unexpected and divisive election in modern political history. It is also a sobering chronicle of our democracy's political polarization--a result of our self-constructed, technologically assisted echo chambers. Like the works of Hunter S. Thompson and Norman Mailer--books that have paved the way for important narratives that shape how we perceive not only the politics of our time but also our way of life-- The People Are Going to Rise Like the Waters Upon Your Shore is an instant classic, an authoritative depiction of a country struggling to make sense of itself.

  2. speaking of Maryland Pizza, that foodstuff had a central role in a dream synchronicity i heard narrated in late april 2017 in the hallway at the music department of m_________ c_______

the classroom is locked before maestro s______ arrives, so we music theory students gather in the hallway - the youngsters chat among themselves and I comment rarely

from time to time a fellow who carries a guitar stops to chat although he does not attend the class - perhaps his individual lesson is at the same hour somewhere else in the building

when i arrived at the gathering - half a dozen people around, approximately - the guitar player was telling the story of his first date with a coworker he's had his eye on for a while at l___'s (a local pizza chain - I thought they might have a dozen locations - actually, it's over a hundred now, including a few as far away as the carolina's and florida - the one closest to me in m_________ v______ is number 36 - the lowest numbered location outside of dc-md-va is #90, in wv)

the night before the occasion the guitar player had a dream in which he arrived to pick up his date at the family home and was told he had to wait - the grandmother was there - more and more people began to arrive and it became a big party

the next day he actually goes to the house, which he had never been to before, and it is THE SAME as his dream

he does have to wait, and is asked to move his car from the driveway because THE GRANDMOTHER is coming and will need to park there

they go do whatever on the date (possibly specified before i got there, or else i just don't remember)- then he says "let's go get something to eat - maybe it seems a bit strange but I'd like to go to l___'s" - she readily agrees - one of their managers is their server - when they are finishing they are told - "we accidentally have an extra pizza - you can take it away" - the fellow looks at the sparse attendance in the restaurant at that time and the small number of pizzas waiting for takeout and deduces that the "extra" pizza is NOT an accident, but rather a favor from the manager - then the girl and he go on to something else, again I forget what

I did not make the obvious remark that if his hypothesis is correct the pizza was in effect stolen - the bible advises not to muzzle the kine who tread the grain (cited in 1 corinthians Ch. 9 - originally in deuteronomy Ch. 25) - there is a qualitative difference between a free pizza and a truckload of tv's being surreptitiously taken out the back

the fellow says he considered telling the girl about the coincidences, but didn't want to freak her out

i said to him "the stars are with you" and he said he hoped so

i have encountered the saying, "there is such a thing as destiny - but continue with your own plans, and if they are in accordance with destiny, you may reap a rich reward"

  5. So George W. Bush is now recalled fondly by liberals? It was around 1980, sometime in the spring of that year, a college big band I was part of (saxophone and flute and clarinet, woodwinders are expected to double in that type of band) was supposed to play in a concert at Disneyland. It was an outdoor concert but was canceled due to rain. As the concert was canceled I went on this ride where I heard a song that always reminds me of W.

    There once was a cowboy.
    His bronco fell on him.
And there was blood on the saddle
    And blood on the ground.
And great big puddles, of blood all around.

Okay, I never said it was a great song but that's how I think of W. Great big puddles of blood all around. Reminds me of good old Barack too. In fact, it reminds of a whole bunch of presidents. So if you want to go down in history as a great man or woman all need be done is become a national leader whereupon you kill a bunch of people and you'll go down in history as a great man or woman.

    1. i was thinking about W this morning - i used to amuse myself by imagining his ceremonial execution by firing squad in the white house rose garden - marines in dress uniforms, airplanes flying in formation overhead, globally televised

now i think that it is probably unwholesome to enjoy such fantasies

anyway, about w - he did some good stuff too which was mentioned on cable tv news this morning

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President%27s_Emergency_Plan_for_AIDS_Relief

and speaking as a north american of european descent, of settler lineage going back to 1620, i am inextricably a product of a society based on population displacement and involuntary immigration of unpaid laborers, and so i incorporate within my background, as well as my own actions within my lifetime, the truth of krishna's assertion in the gita that humans have both divine and demonic tendencies

may the creative forces of the universe have mercy on our souls, if any

  6. The good stuff, I take it, isn't his paintings. Okay, seriously, but I cannot help but thinking that over a million dead and an entire region dismantled into utter chaos is pretty demonic. Hitler loved his dog, so I have to agree there may be some good in the most evil of humanity.

Have the gods smiled on us? This bit of news sounds very promising though I'm not going to commit to thinking this might actually work out. But it is encouraging:
