Sixty-Seven Today

Neil Young is sixty-seven today. I can't remember not hearing his music, it's been on the soundtrack as long as I've had a soundtrack. I don't deeply love his music but I love it enough (and love some songs immensely) and it demands notice. And yes, lazy blegging day after a night off from reading, a United post and a birthday post but no links beyond this one, a reminder I'm glad Planet chose to go to school a beautiful drive away in Ohio and not a hideous drive up to New England, and a final word on the call that was not made in Houston yesterday .

  1. Back in my Nazhole days, there were numerous Neil Young sightings in the general Mount Vernon/Bamgier vicinity due to his daughter attending school at Planet's alma mater. But you probably knew that already.

  2. I didn't know that. They talk about Paul Newman, how he drunk himself off the football team and barely graduated then paid for the new theater when he was rich and famous, but this is the first I've heard that about Neil Young and Bamgier.

Nazhole? You went to Mt Vernon Nazarene College or does that mean something else?

    1. I went there for one year and realized that despite mutual Christerness, it was a bit of a culture shock for a weird Cleveland kid uninterested in Southern gospel or getting an MRS Degree. Great art department though, met some great people thanks to that year before transferring to Kent.

When I was down there, me and some of the other strange folk who also transferred used to go to Bamgier to look at cool stuff in the bookstore, chill in that little mini gothic chapel, and dumpster-dive at the end of the year. It felt like a real college instead of a youth group camp!
