Seventy-Three Today

  • High Egoslavian Holy Day.
  • That's right, no Velvet songs. It's not fuck the Velvets, it's Velvets, who gives a fuck. I once got, I got why I got, I don't get any more.
  • I'm halfway through Nicholson Baker's Anthologist. Some of you get Baker, yes? I did like Human Smoke, but I've never mmwahed the fiction. Trying.
  • And tried - for me relatively successfully - for a clusterfuck-free weekend. I liked it, sorry.
  • Here, a few friends have new content:
  • This week in water.
  • This exhibition is closed to the public.
  • Order Jacob's novel
  • Jim Dine's letter to the troops.
  • Operation Dipstick.
  • Great failures of our time.
  • This isn't from a friend, but I need post this article on Philip Guston, posted for Earthgirl for the painter, posted for me because of course I think of Morton Feldman. Give it all four hours, forty-eight minutes.

  1. you link to "operation dipstick", robpayne's commentary and partial repost of andrew cockburn's article about a drone strike in afghanistan that killed civilians - payne states

At the end of the piece Cockburn writes that the families of the dead received five thousand dollars plus one goat.

missus charley and i were talking about goats last night - we had seen a goat on tv and missus charley was remembering that, when she was a child, she and her sisters had raised a goat by hand

that goat became the main dish at a cousin's barbecue - the girls cried and cried

missus charley and i are now three years into our practice of preferentially eating plants - who knows if it's good or bad?

  2. Nice selection of Cale! Wonder if it's as good for my ears as its greeny homonym is for my tummy. Used to have the vinyl of Church of Anthrax—only one I knew who did.

Thanks for the link—here and on twooter. Always appreciated.

Must explore the Jacob Russell. Thanks for the alert.
